A lovely word of the day that I don’t recall seeing too much during the dotcom heyday, but see it daily now it seems.
From wiki:
The digerati are the elite of the computer industry and online communities. The word is a portmanteau, derived from “digital” and “literati,” and reminiscent of the earlier coinage glitterati (glitter + literati). Famous computer scientists, tech magazine writers and well-known bloggers are included among the digerati.
The term itself was coined in 1992 by the New York Times. Besides on the wiki, there is a listing of the Digerati. Or maybe it’s popular because it was the Word of the Day for Tuesday December 20, 2005
